Dog Tired
Two days ago, a friend of mine asked me and some other people, “What does it look like to be present with other people?” Lately, I’ve been super tired. Not that every minute has been like that. I’ve just been distracted. You know the kind of place where you are hanging out with friends and all you can think about is what you have to do later, or what you were just working on. Hmm, I’ll have to ponder this some more.

Last night Penn State beat the Florida State Seminoles 26-23 in a triple-overtime game that lasted from 8PM until 1AM. The game ended up being decided by the special teams.
Kevin Kelly, Penn State’s kicker, said “You always dream about making the game-winning kick in a setting like this, with everyone watching you and all the pressure on, but you don’t dream of missing the first two to get you there. Nobody does.”
It is so good to see Penn State is back again in the NCAA football scene. This was a much needed victory Joe Paterno and the Nittany Lions.

Ok, so a few weeks ago, Kelly and I were making plans to come up north for the Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference. We got our plane tickets to fly into Philadelphia and then planned to get a rental car for the week. As I looked at car rental agencies, Hertz’s site had a Mustang for about $100 more than the lowest price. We thought about renting it and then decided not to in favor of economy.
When we flew in to Philadelphia and got to the Hertz counter, the lady at the desk asked “Is it okay to give you a Mustang?” I looked around to see if there were hidden cameras around. Yeah… So, as I left the counter and went outside to meet Kelly, she asked me “are we going to drive that Mustang over there?” Yes, I said matter of factly. She looked at me confused and curious, waiting for me to crack a smile. “Are you serious?” So, I put the luggage in the trunk.
Our fantasy that week came to pass as we drove the Mustang down to the Cheseapeke Bay and then through the hills of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. We stopped at the Herr’s Foods factory for a chip and pretzel making tour and then headed to my parents’ for Thanksgiving. It seemed so superficial, but that car brought so much fun and excitement. I can’t imagine that week without the Mustang.

My muscles are huge!
The last few months have been great down here. I’ve been working on my tan and have been able to spend a lot of time working out back home. It’s hard to believe how warm it is down here in Florida. Come and visit!

Thanks mom, for a great birthday present. These shoes are really comfortable and a little stylish. And James, when he is old enough, can wear these little shoes too. Though I’ll be able to wear these shoes for a long time, unfortunately he’ll only be able to wear them a few months.
