Being Green might get you some…

Green that is. Because of the Energy Policy Act of 2005, you can save a lot of money this next tax season if you make energy improvements to your lifestyle. The policy offers tax credits to taxpayers who purchase not only Hybrid vehicles (which was available as a credit in previous tax years), but also items like main air circulating fans, natural gas, propane, or oil furnaces, and many other energy efficient items. I am personally considering purchasing the xPower Energy Saver that works like a giant battery on your power supply, so that you can keep the extra surges. Supposedly, it can help you save up to 25% on your home utility bill.
The tax credits are dollar for dollar benefits to the taxpayer. It’s basically like the government is paying for you to be more efficient. The maximum credit for all taxable years (2006 and 2007) is $500, and no more than $200 can be attributable to expenses for windows. Still, the IRS is shelling out some major cash for this. Thanks Uncle Sam!
